I'm looking for a critique partner and an accountability buddy. Someone who can crack the whip if the situation calls for it. I've been a part of an IRL critique group for a couple years but the group is fairly large so we don't get through a lot of work each week. Because of that, I like to think that I'm pretty professional (but friendly) when it comes to critiques. I know how to handle critique (of my work). I'm looking for that in a partner as well.
I write a little bit of everything (poetry, flash fiction, short stories, scripts, novellas, etc.) so I am looking for a critique partner that can be a little flexible.
My stories mainly fall in "dark comedy" genre. I write mostly short stories, flash fiction, poetry, and scripts, though I am working on my first novel-length piece.
I'm pretty open to critiquing anything, though I don't have much experience in memoirs and I am not certain that I can give a good critique for a memoir.
I can/will always reread (1) The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, (2) One More Thing by B.J. Novak, (3) The Productive Writer by Sage Cohen, (4) The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King, and (5) Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg. Also anything by H.P. Lovecraft or Edgar Allan Poe.
I've been a writer for quite a few years and have had a few short stories and poetry published. I categorized myself under "unpublished" because I'm in this weird limbo phase. I haven't been published in a few years because I haven't been actively submitting (fiction) work. I hope to change that next year.
