I've lived in the Adirondack Mtns. since my escape from Boston in 2005. Yay! My livelihood was writing nonfiction (history). My lifelong passion: Reading and writing fiction.

Writing Interests

I'm searching for a partner willing to spend the time to develop a trusting relationship that will benefit both of us long-term. I'm also searching for a partner who has been critiquing for some time, perhaps in a critique group, as I have (while in Boston), but perhaps only online. I'm looking for honest commentary and do not need my ego soothed and placated.
My philosophy of offering feedback is to present first to my partner what really worked for me in a piece, followed by questions I had about the text, followed by feedback about what I did not understand fully, to be followed by kind ideas to prompt my partner to think about an aspect more fully, all in an effort to help him or her make their work the best it can possibly be. Because that's what I care about the most.

Novels.
I have several in the works. Contemporary fiction is an overly broad category. The one I've most recently been writing is about a young woman from Boston, a wildlife biologist, who purchases a large property in the Adirondack Mountains for her research. Troubles ensue...

Fantasy, magical realism, speculative fiction, sci-fi

I'm a voracious reader of literary fiction, crime and mystery novels, suspense thrillers, gothic fiction, and 19th-century global classics. I even go for one or two romance novels each year!
Favorite book of all time: Jane Eyre.
Also love memoir, history, and biography. Huge interest and knowledge of WWII (Europe).

Since moving to the Adirondack Mountains with my husband in 2005, I have become deeply connected with the natural world. I love to hike with my golden retriever and observe and learn about wildlife, trees, and plants. Amazing. This after a life in a city!
My imagination has opened up since living here. Problem is: How to find writing partners? A huge dilemma.
