In my view, an effective critique partner provides honest feedback and a new perspective. When there are inconsistencies or other problems, a critique partner should feel free to point them out. At the same time, if things are done well, encouragement from a critique partner can go a long ways. I also hope to find someone willing to discuss some of the feedback and share some ideas and solutions from time to time.
I'm currently working on a contemporary fiction novel. Past works have mainly been in scifi.
I'm not a big fan of YA works.
Genres I enjoy include contemporary fiction, historical fiction, science fiction, fantasy, mild horror, classics, etc.
Some of recent reads have been books by Michael Ondaatje, Richard Wagamese, Lynn Coady, Neil Gaiman…
