I'm looking for someone who is in the middle of writing a middle grade novel with fantasy elements. I'd like to find someone who loves words and wordplay, and who believes that children can handle advanced vocabulary.
I'm writing a middle grade fantasy novel about a pair of otters who must find their way back home after having been captured. I've written about 35,000 words.
I'd rather not critique books written for adults.
My favorite books in my writing genre are The Wild Robot by Peter Brown, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O'Brien, the books of E.B. White (The Trumpet of the Swan is perhaps most like the one I'm writing), and Fantastic Mr. Fox (and others) by Roald Dahl.
I'm a former 4th grade teacher who thoroughly enjoys finding good book "fits" for kids. I"m also very much pro-graphic novel!
