I would love to connect with someone who is knowledgeable about the kidlit genre, including picture books and middle-grade categories. I hope to build a relationship that provides honest and constructive criticism that is focused on improving our manuscripts. Identifying both our strengths and weaknesses in our work and offering suggestions for how to address any issues.
It would be helpful to find a critique partner who has similar writing goals to my own. This might mean someone who is also writing in the same genre, aiming for the same age group, or working towards publication in similar markets. I feel we would be better able to support each other and offer feedback that is tailored to our shared goals. I would like to be a reliable and consistent critique partner to someone who values the same traits and would like to building a positive and supportive relationship.
I have a few rough drafts of books inspired by my adorable French bulldog Frankie. I love to travel and this too has inspired a few of my book ideas. I am an intermediate-phase educator so there is definitely an element of educational writing that appeals to me. However, I love to make children laugh so humorous writing, figurative language and imagery are aspects I would like to experiment with.
The Magic Faraway Tree series by Enid Blyton are the first books I remember absolutely being absorbed in.
Roald Dahl and all of his marvellous mischievous creations are at the top of the list of my favourite books.
The list is rather long though...
My recently I stumbled upon Josh Funk's books and they just make me smile 🥰
